Special Meeting of the Elk River EDA Beautification and Public Art Committee Held at the Elk River City Hall Monday, September 18th, 2023 Members Present: Melissa McAlpine, Ryan Hardin, Jennifer Wagner, and Dan Tveite Members Absent: Deb Hjermstad, Michael Niziolek Staff Present: Economic Development Specialist Josh Mollan, Economic Development Director Brent O'Neil, and Senior Planner Chris Leeseberg I . Call Meeting to Order Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the special meeting of the EDA Beautification and Public Art Committee was called to order at 4:05 p.m. by Josh. Josh shared that Sharon Tracy has resigned from the committee. 2. Consider Agenda Moved by Dan and seconded by Jennifer to approve the agenda. Motion carried 4-0. 3. Consider Minutes Moved by Ryan and seconded by Melissa to approve the August 14, 2023, Beautification Committee meeting minutes. Motion carried 2-0. Moved by Dan and seconded by Ryan to approve the August 14, 2023, Beautification and Public Art Committee meeting minutes. Motion carried 4-0. 4.1 Beautification Award Updates Josh advised that Beautification Award applications are due on 9/30 and to date there have not been any applications received. He asked the committee their thoughts on the future of the Beautification Award. Jennifer asked if committee members can self -nominate. The committee was agreeable with the condition that the member would abstain from discussion and judging. Dan and Jennifer suggested deferring making any changes to the program until after this year's award season wraps up. 4.2 Public Art Vision and Goals Josh asked the committee what they want the vision and plan of the newly merged committee to be. Dan preferred to follow a similar procedure to the last project that the Public Art Committee utilized. Ryan suggested getting connected with Joan Ruprecht.
