Meeting of the Elk River EDA Beautification Committee WdOW&M.—I , Held at the Elk River City Hall Ver Monday, July 10', 2023 Members Present: Ryan Hardin, Melissa McAlpine Members Absent: Deb Hjermstad Staff Present: Josh Mollan, Economic Development Specialist Chris Leeseberg, Senior Planner (10:23 a.m.) I . Call Meeting to Order Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee was called to order at 10:07 a.m. by Josh. 2. Consider Agenda Moved by Ryan and seconded by Melissa to approve the agenda. Motion carried 2-0. 3. Consider Minutes Moved by Melissa and seconded by Ryan to approve May 8, 2023, Meeting Minutes. Motion carried 2-0. 4.1 Committee Structure Josh advised that staff will lead the Beautification Committee meetings going forward. Josh anticipates that members of the Public Art Committee will be invited to attend a joint meeting next month immediately following the regular Beautification Committee. Josh requested the committee members to brainstorm about where in the city could be a potential target for a public art project. 4.2 Marketing Strategy for 2023 Activities Melissa and Josh finalized the award flyer for 2023. These will be printed and put out on the city hall magazine stand and at the farmers market. Josh will continue with Facebook posts and verbal sharing at future DERBA meetings. The flyer will also be up at the upcoming chamber golf event. Ryan questioned the language on the flyer of the qualifying area of the Beautification Award. Josh will research and correct the language if necessary. Melissa advised that a sandwich board would run about $200. Ryan will connect with the chamber to determine if we can get our award information on their digital change sign.
