Meeting of the Elk River EDA Beautification Committee <br />WdOW&M.—I <br />, Held at the Elk River City Hall <br />Ver Monday, July 10', 2023 <br />Members Present: Ryan Hardin, Melissa McAlpine <br />Members Absent: Deb Hjermstad <br />Staff Present: Josh Mollan, Economic Development Specialist <br />Chris Leeseberg, Senior Planner (10:23 a.m.) <br />I . Call Meeting to Order <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee was called to <br />order at 10:07 a.m. by Josh. <br />2. Consider Agenda <br />Moved by Ryan and seconded by Melissa to approve the agenda. Motion carried 2-0. <br />3. Consider Minutes <br />Moved by Melissa and seconded by Ryan to approve May 8, 2023, Meeting Minutes. Motion <br />carried 2-0. <br />4.1 Committee Structure <br />Josh advised that staff will lead the Beautification Committee meetings going forward. <br />Josh anticipates that members of the Public Art Committee will be invited to attend a joint meeting next <br />month immediately following the regular Beautification Committee. <br />Josh requested the committee members to brainstorm about where in the city could be a potential target for <br />a public art project. <br />4.2 Marketing Strategy for 2023 Activities <br />Melissa and Josh finalized the award flyer for 2023. These will be printed and put out on the city hall <br />magazine stand and at the farmers market. Josh will continue with Facebook posts and verbal sharing at <br />future DERBA meetings. The flyer will also be up at the upcoming chamber golf event. <br />Ryan questioned the language on the flyer of the qualifying area of the Beautification Award. Josh will <br />research and correct the language if necessary. <br />Melissa advised that a sandwich board would run about $200. <br />Ryan will connect with the chamber to determine if we can get our award information on their digital <br />change sign. <br />
