Meeting of the Elk River EDA Beautification Committee <br />Held at the Elk River City Hall <br />Monday, May 8', 2023 <br />Members Present: Ryan Hardin, Deb Hjermstad, Melissa McAlpine <br />Members Absent: None <br />Staff Present: Joshua Mollan, Economic Development Specialist <br />Chris Leeseberg, Senior Planner <br />I . Call Meeting to Order <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee was called to <br />order at 10:03 a.m. by Ryan. <br />2. Consider Agenda <br />Moved by Deb and seconded by Melissa to approve the agenda. Motion carried 3-0. <br />3. Consider Minutes <br />Moved by Melissa and seconded by Deb to approve October 10, 2022, Meeting Minutes. Motion <br />carried 3-0. <br />4.1 2023 Vision and Goals <br />Josh shared that Ashley had resigned since the last meeting. Josh requested feedback to determine if a <br />collaborative effort between the Beautification Committee and the Public Art Committee could be <br />warranted. The committee members were agreeable for staff to look further into collaboration. <br />The committee was in favor of moving forward with the Beautification Award for 2023. <br />Josh shared Brooklyn Park's Summer Blossom program which highlights residential and commercial <br />landscaping efforts as inspiration for a new program for the Beautification Committee. <br />Ryan asked if staff time would be an issue moving forward with a similar program. Josh advised that a scaled <br />down program would work for staff. <br />The committee agreed to workshop the program in 2023 for implementation in 2024. <br />Josh advised that he will update the committee responsibilities and bring it to the committee next month for <br />approval. <br />4.2 2023 Meeting Schedule <br />The committee preferred to keep all regular meetings on the schedule and cancel as needed. <br />Moved by Deb and seconded by Melissa to approve the 2023 Meeting Schedule. Motion carried 3-0. <br />
