<br /> <br />Meeting of the City Council <br />Held at the Elk River City Hall <br />Monday, September 30, 2024 <br /> <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor John Dietz, Councilmember Jennifer Wagner, Councilmember Mike Beyer, <br />Councilmember Matt Westgaard, Councilmember Cory Grupa <br /> <br />Members Absent: None <br /> <br />Staff Present: City Administrator Cal Portner, Human Resources Manager Lauren Wipper, City <br />Clerk Tina Allard <br /> <br />1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br /> The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />2. POLICE CHIEF CANDIDATE INTERVIEW <br /> <br /> <br /> 2.1 Police Chief Candidate Interview <br /> Senior Consultant Mike Brethorst, with MGT Consulting, provided the Council with details about his <br />work and consulting experience and his role in recruitment. He provided an overview of the onboarding <br />process and how his team vetted the candidates for police chief. He and Mr. Portner further discussed <br />the interview panel process. <br /> <br />The Council met and interviewed David Kuhnly. The Council discussed the process and the candidate. <br /> <br />The Council consensus was to direct staff to draft an offer to Mr. Kuhnly. The Council asked staff to <br />meet with the police department to discuss the process and decisions made and further asked staff to <br />keep the City Council informed about the police department. <br /> <br />3. MOTION TO ADJOURN <br /> Moved by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Grupa to adjourn the <br />meeting of City Council.
