City of <br />Elk - <br />River <br />To <br />City Council <br />Meeting Date <br />March 18, 2024 <br />Item Description <br />Trott Brook Farms Park Playground <br />Request for Action <br />Item Number <br />8.2 <br />Prepared By <br />Michael Hecker, Recreation Manager <br />Reviewed by: <br />Joe Stremcha <br />Cal Portner <br />Tina Allard <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, playground concept #3 to replace the playground at Trott Brook Park Playground. <br />Background/Discussion <br />On March 13, the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously approved concept #3. <br />Staff worked closely with Flagship Recreation on three playground concepts to present to the neighbors of <br />Trott Brook Farms Park. Staff mailed 510 postcards with a QR code stating "We want to hear from the <br />members in your household which playground you prefer. Help us choose a great option by completing a <br />quick survey online." The survey closed on February 8 and the results are as follows: <br />■ Option 1 — 11 votes <br />■ Option 2 — 69 votes <br />■ Option 3 — 75 votes <br />Financial Impact <br />$125,000 is in the 2024 PIF for Flagship to install the new playground. This is for the playground installation, <br />wood chips, geotextile fabric and a dumpster.
