City of <br />Elk - <br />River <br />To <br />City Council <br />Meeting Date <br />March 18, 2024 <br />Item Description <br />2024 Equipment Replacement Fund Purchase - Cat <br />Compact Track Loader <br />Request for Action <br />Item Number <br />4.6 <br />Prepared By <br />Tim Sevcik, Street and Park Superintendent <br />Reviewed by: <br />Justin Femrite <br />Cal Portner <br />Tina Allard <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the 2024 Street Maintenance Division equipment replacement purchase as scheduled in <br />the Capital Improvement Plan <br />Background/Discussion <br />The Street Maintenance Division requests authorization to proceed with the purchase of a Caterpillar model <br />255 compact track loader with a HM316 forestry mulching attachment. The compact track loader replaces <br />the division's existing compact track loader and is vital in performing various tasks including material loading, <br />stump grinding, compost site maintenance, asphalt milling, etc. In addition, the forestry mulching attachment <br />will be utilized for the maintenance of our storm water basins and forest invasive species management. <br />These purchases were planned in the 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Plan and budgeted in the 2024 <br />Equipment Replacement Fund for th ereplacement of existing equipment. The existing compact track loader <br />will be traded with revenue going back into the Equipment Replacement Fund. <br />Financial Impact <br />$90,370.00 from the 2024 Equipment Replacement Fund utilizing MnDOT contract #242476 release T-631(5). <br />Mission/Policy/Goal <br />Attachments <br />1.
