<br /> <br />City of Elk River <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date <br />Worksession Februa 13,2006 <br />Item Description <br />Authorization to Contract with Sherburne County to <br />Include Pedestrian tunnel for Great Northern Trail under <br />CR33 <br /> <br />Item Number <br />5.3. <br /> <br />Prepared by <br />Bill Maertz, Parks and Recreation Director <br />Reviewed by <br /> <br />Introduction <br />Staff is seeking authorization to contract with Sherburne County Public Works to include a pedestrian <br />tunnel for the Great Northern Trail during the reconstruction of CR 33. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />Plans for the Great Northern Trail are to pave it all the way from Elk River to Princeton. When <br />complete, this trail will be a premier regional trail that will receive heavy use. The opportunity exists to <br />include a pedestrian tunnel under CR 33 during reconstruction in summer of 2006.
