<br /> <br /> Meeting of the Elk River <br /> Energy City Commission <br /> Elk River City Hall <br /> Wednesday, March 15, 2023 <br /> <br /> <br />Members Present: Chair Casey Mahon, Commissioners Vern Iverson, Cory Grupa, <br />Mark Peterson, Tony Miller, Levi Aespoh, and Tom Sagstetter <br /> <br />Members Absent: Commissioners Reggie Vanlonden, and Jon Cappaert <br /> <br />Staff Present: Environmental Services/Special Projects Director Suzanne Fischer <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Energy City <br /> <br />Commission was called to order by Chair Mahon at 8:30 a.m. <br /> <br />2. Pledge of Allegiance <br />Commissioner Mahon led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />3. Oath of Office <br />Vern Iverson and Levi Aesoph took and signed their oath of office. <br /> <br />4. Consider Agenda & Minutes <br />Commissioner Sagstetter moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Commissioner Aesoph. <br />Commissioner Grupa moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Peterson. <br /> <br />5. Status of Energy City Goals <br />Commissioners discussed Goal 3 – ‘Advocate to the City Council that all RFP’s or capital expenditures <br />clearly identify and quantify the LT environmental and energy efficiency attributes for projects or equipment <br />purchases exceeding %50K in cost’. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sagstetter provided examples of sustainability questions to ask suppliers, <br />however we will continue to search for more local examples. This item will be brought back to <br />the ECC in May. <br /> <br />5.2 ECC Presentation to Council. <br />The ECC power point for an Apr. 17 presentation to Council was reviewed by the Commission. In <br />addition, Chair Mahon shared that he will have talking points with it and Commissioner Iverson will <br />provide a briefing to them on the Recharge MN event in August. <br /> <br />5.3 Follow-Up from Recharge MN meeting of 3.8. <br />The bi-weekly planning meetings are going well, and the group has been in contact with area car <br />dealerships (for EV test drives), vendors, schools, charitable organizations, and potential sponsors. <br />Plans include a strong focus on career opportunities and jobs in energy related fields. The <br />Transportation Center for Excellence will provide a hands-on trailer and possibly an EV cut in half. <br />The Elk River Fire Dept. has also been asked to participate. The event will include food trucks in <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
