Special Meeting of the Elk River EDA <br />Beautification and Public Art Committee <br />Held at the Elk River City Hall <br />Tuesday, March 18, 2024 <br /> <br /> <br />Members Present: Deb Hjermstad, Nic Hahn, Dan Tveite, Jennifer Wagner, and Ryan Hardin <br /> <br />Members Absent: Melissa McAlpine <br /> <br />Staff Present: Economic Development Specialist Josh Mollan <br /> <br />1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the special meeting of the EDA Beautification and Public Art <br />Committee was called to order at 3:35 p.m. by Josh. <br /> <br />2. Consider Agenda <br /> <br />Moved by Dan and seconded by Deb to approve the agenda. Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />3. Consider Minutes <br /> <br />Moved by Dan and seconded by Jennifer to approve the February 20, 2024, meeting minutes. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br /> <br />4.1 Public Art Project Update <br /> <br />Josh shared the draft CMAB grant application which had been submitted for review on March 13th. <br /> <br />The committee shared minor corrections and suggestions. <br /> <br />Josh shared the past award amounts to gauge the amount that we should request from CMAB. <br /> <br />The committee suggested seeking sponsors after the CMAB grant decision. <br /> <br />Nic suggested listing the past public art sponsors in the current application and share that there is interest in <br />the community to support public art. <br /> <br />Jennifer suggested seeking additional sponsors to see if we could secure a larger piece of art from Carey <br />Dean. <br /> <br />Josh advised that he will attend the Multipurpose Facility Commission meeting in April to request final <br />approval of placement and art. <br /> <br />Josh asked the committee if they had interest in showing Carey Dean areas of our community for inspiration <br />for her art. <br /> <br />The committee was in favor of showing her around and suggested the following locations: <br /> Houlton Conservation Area <br /> Bailey <br /> Woodland Trails <br />Rivers Edge Commons <br />
