<br />Meeting of the Elk River <br />Parks and Recreation Commission <br />Held at the Elk River City Hall <br />March 13, 2024 <br /> <br /> <br />Members Present: Vice Chair Loidolt, Commissioners Dave Anderson, Mike Brown, Mike Niziolek, Jill <br />Varty, and Harold Stewart <br /> <br />Members Absent: Ryan Holmgren <br /> <br />Council Liaison: Councilmember Mike Beyer <br /> <br />Staff Present: Parks and Recreation Manager Michael Hecker, Senior Administrative Assistant Dawn <br />Larson, Assistant City Administrator/Business Services Director Joe Stremcha <br /> <br /> <br />1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Parks and Recreation <br />Commission was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Vice Chair Loidolt. <br /> <br />2. Pledge of Allegiance <br /> <br />3. Consider Agenda <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Anderson and seconded by Commissioner Brown to approve the <br />December 13, 2023, agenda. carried 6-0. <br /> <br />4. Consider Minutes <br /> <br />Moved by Commissioner Brown and seconded by Commissioner Niziolek to approve the <br />December 13, 2023, Parks and Recreation Commission Minutes. Motion carried 6-0. <br /> <br />5. Election of Chair and Vice Chair <br /> <br />Moved by Vice Chair Loidolt to nominate Commissioner Brown, for Chair. Commissioner <br />Niziolek moved to nominate Commissioner Anderson for Chair. There were no seconds to <br />the nominations. Commissioners Stewart, Anderson, Varty, and Niziolek voted for <br />Commissioner Anderson. Commissioners Loidolt and Brown voted for Brown. Motion for <br />Commissioner Anderson to become Chair passed 4-2. <br /> <br />Commissioner Varty nominated Commissioner Niziolek for Vice-Chair. There was not a <br />second. Motion carried 6-0. <br /> <br />Chair positions switched immediately, and Commissioner Anderson took over the meeting as Chair. <br /> <br />6. Open Forum <br /> <br />Wyatt Galinski, 13115 192nd ½ Lane Elk River, MN shared that he is very enthusiastic about Elk <br />River and has lived here his whole life. He is very appreciative of the work that has been done at the <br />skate park and Woodland Trails. He is an avid skateboarder, skier, and hiker. He has concerns about <br />
