Meeting of the Elk River <br />Heritage Preservation Commission <br />=---� Held at the Elk River City Hall <br />Ver Thursday, January 18, 2024 <br />Members Present: Chair Lance Lindberg, Commissioners Linda Campbell, Zachary Griffiths, Tony Mauren, <br />and Gavin Tuckey <br />Members Absent: Commissioners Mike Hangaard and Mary Stoutenburg <br />Council Liaison: Councilmember Cory Grupa <br />Staff Present: Community Development Director Zack Carlton <br />1. Call Meeting to Order <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Heritage Preservation Commission <br />was called to order at 6:02 p.m. by Chair Lindberg. <br />2. Pledge of Allegiance <br />Chair Lindberg led the commission in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />3. Consider Agenda <br />Moved by Commissioner Mauren and seconded by Commissioner Griffiths to approve the January <br />18, 2024, Heritage Preservation Commission agenda. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br />4. Consider Minutes <br />Moved by Commissioner Griffiths and seconded by Commissioner Campbell to approve the <br />September 21, 2023, Heritage Preservation minutes. <br />Motion carried 5-0. <br />5.1 Discuss Elk River's "History Minute" <br />Mr. Carlton noted Chair Lindberg is working with communications staff member Jake Pace on recording <br />the next History Minute with the topic on the Hanke pit. Mr. Carlton asked about other topic suggestions. <br />Linda Campbell volunteered for the spring topic. Commissioner Griffiths volunteered for the dam and mill <br />topic which includes the bank restoration project. Mr. Carlton will follow up with Brandon Wisner <br />regarding the status of the dam project. <br />5.2 2024 HPC Events <br />Mr. Carlton stated the two events proposed so far are the Farmer's Market (late July/early August) and the <br />Fall Conference. He asked if anyone was interested in the conference to let him know. <br />Mr. Carlton will check with cable TV producer Jake Pace to see if the history documentary has been posted. <br />
