Meeting of the Elk River Heritage Preservation Commission =---� Held at the Elk River City Hall Ver Thursday, January 18, 2024 Members Present: Chair Lance Lindberg, Commissioners Linda Campbell, Zachary Griffiths, Tony Mauren, and Gavin Tuckey Members Absent: Commissioners Mike Hangaard and Mary Stoutenburg Council Liaison: Councilmember Cory Grupa Staff Present: Community Development Director Zack Carlton 1. Call Meeting to Order Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Heritage Preservation Commission was called to order at 6:02 p.m. by Chair Lindberg. 2. Pledge of Allegiance Chair Lindberg led the commission in the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. Consider Agenda Moved by Commissioner Mauren and seconded by Commissioner Griffiths to approve the January 18, 2024, Heritage Preservation Commission agenda. Motion carried 5-0. 4. Consider Minutes Moved by Commissioner Griffiths and seconded by Commissioner Campbell to approve the September 21, 2023, Heritage Preservation minutes. Motion carried 5-0. 5.1 Discuss Elk River's "History Minute" Mr. Carlton noted Chair Lindberg is working with communications staff member Jake Pace on recording the next History Minute with the topic on the Hanke pit. Mr. Carlton asked about other topic suggestions. Linda Campbell volunteered for the spring topic. Commissioner Griffiths volunteered for the dam and mill topic which includes the bank restoration project. Mr. Carlton will follow up with Brandon Wisner regarding the status of the dam project. 5.2 2024 HPC Events Mr. Carlton stated the two events proposed so far are the Farmer's Market (late July/early August) and the Fall Conference. He asked if anyone was interested in the conference to let him know. Mr. Carlton will check with cable TV producer Jake Pace to see if the history documentary has been posted.
