Upon implementing the suggestions from the training, we achieved both goals. The reduced
energy consumption is estimated to save up to $30,000 per year. As a result of this achievement, the Elk River
Wastewater Treatment Plant was selected as the recipient of the 2024 Resource Recovery and Energy Excellence
Award which was accepted by our staff at the Minnesota Wastewater Operators Association Conference on
February 7, 2024.

Financial Impact
Realized annual savings of $30,000 in energy not consumed!

Mission/Policy/Goal
Ethical, efficient, and responsible.

Attachments
 None

The Elk River Vision
A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional

service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity.
Updated: January 2023
