VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 12, 1922 A regular meeting of the Village Council was held at the Library Room on Tuesday, Sept 12, 1922. Present- M.K. Iliff, Pres,J.E. Hamlet, C.A. Morse, Geo Cornelius, Trustees, W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk Meeting called to order by the Pres. at 7:30 p.m. The principle business before this meeting was the levying a tax for the year 1923. After some discussion in regard to the amounts needed to finance the Village the following Resolution was unanimously adopted by the Council. Resolved: That the following sums be raised by taxation of the Real and Personal Property of the Village of Elk River to meet the expense necessary for the year 1923. For the Revenue or Gen. Fund 8000.00 For the Special or Sinking Fund to pay interest on bonds 4000.00 For music fun 500.00 For Poor Fund 400.00 For Library Fund 400.00 Total 13,300.00 Complaint having been made that the R.R. Crossing at the intersection of Lewis and West St near Block 5 in W.H. Houlins Addition known as the Fourtillotte crossing was being obstructed by having freight cars slotted too close together thereby leaving only a very narrow opening making it dangerous for the Public the clerk was ordered to call the attention of the parties to the subject. Complaint was also made to the council in regard to the water in Power Reservoir at or near Blk 3 for 10 in Auditors Addition to the Village of Elk River was washing away and under mining laid properly. The clerk was ordered to call the attention of the Elk River Power and Light Co to the matter. The following bills were presented and on motion carried were allowed. H.R.
