VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 13, 1922 A regular meeting ofVilllage Council was held on Tuesday eveningJune 13, 1922. Present- M.K. Iliff, Pres,J.E. Hamlet, C.A. Morse, Trustees, W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk Meeting called to order by the Pres. at 8 o'clock p.m. Mr. Henry Ruprecht came before the Council and stated that they had built the sidewalk along main as agreed upon and now wished to have the others do the same so as to complete the job. On motion duly made seconded and declared carried the clerk was ordered to notify the balance of residents to build their walks. Res. John Walker pastor of the M.E. Church next appeared before the council in regard to taxes for laying main on both sides of the church property both on Main St and Depot St. The council could see no way in which they could grant them relief. C.A. Morse Trustee and com. On St. sprinkling reported that he had pledged from property owners for street sprinkling the sum of 80.00 per month on motion duly made seconded and declared carried. Mr. W.H. Clements was appointed street commissioner at a salary of 100.00 per month for man and team and to look after street sprinkling his time commencing May 26, 1922. The Pres appointed J.E. Hamlet and C.A. Morse a com. On waterworks and to purchase necessary fittings for connection with Mains. Meters on motion the price for connecting with the mains was set at $1.00 for use of tap and the actual cost of material and time to make the connection.On motion the Marshal was ordered to notify the dealers in fireworks not to sell fireworks only on July 1, 2, 3, and 4. On motion duly made seconded and declared carried the council purchase the street sprinkler at $150.00. On motion duly made seconded and declared carried Mr. Earl Darrow was appointed Tres. For the ensuing year. The following bills were presented and on motion allowed. Bills allowed #643.36 John Becker 45 hours with team 22.50 W.H. Clements 40 hours with team 20.00 Giles Casey 20 hours with team 5.00 John Bates 30 hours with team 5.00 W.A. Patenaude 16 hours with team 5.00 William Giff 3 days with team 15.00 Star News printing 11.25
