VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 9, 1922 Regular meeting of Village Council held on above date the following members were present. Present- M.K. Iliff, President,J.E. Hamlet, C.A. Morse, Geo Cornelius, Trustees. W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk. Meeting called to order by the Pres at 8 o'clock p.m. E.L. Clark a resident of Block 11 - 6th St appeared before the council and stated that one year ago a petition for a sidewalk was granted to the residents on Block 11 and that a permit was granted to build a sidewalk on the north side of said Block and that the owners of Lots 3-4-5 had built said sidewalk but the owners of Lots 1-2 had failed to do so and asked that the Council require said owners to build their walk. On motion the clerk was ordered to notify said owners to build sidewalk within 30 days.Grover Mahoupe Prop. Of Pool Room appeared before the Council and asked for a renewal of his license to operate his pool tables and bowling allies on motion duly made seconded and declared carried his request was granted. The following charge was made for the license $10.00 each for the 1st two tables and $5.00 for each table after and $5.00 for each bowling alley. On motion the Pres. was authorized to procure suitable flowers for the Park using his own judgement in regard to matter. On motion the Pres. appointed Geo Cornelius Trustee to see about getting water in the Park also to have all leaking hydrants repaved and painted. John Hamlet Trustee asked that the Village do the necessary grading on the South side of Jefferson Highway on Lot 3 Block 1 so that he could build sidewalk on motion duly made seconded and declared carried his request was granted. On motion C.A. Morse Trustee was appointed a regard to sprinkling streets. to interview the business men in On motion the Pres. was ordered to procure all the books and documents belonging to the Village from the former clerk and see that they are delivered to the present clerk. On motion duly made seconded and declared carried the clerk was authorized to draw orders the first of each month for the payment of electric light and ower bills salary of monthly employees and also for all day labor. When duly certified to by the in charge of said work. The following bills were presented and on motion allowed (several of these bills to be held up until village received the books from the former clerk)
