VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 11, 1922 A Regular meeting of Village Council was held at the Public Library on the above date Present- M.K. Iliff, President,J.E. Hamlet, C.A. Morse, Geo Cornelius, Trustees. W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk. Meeting called to order by the Pres at 8 o'clock a.m. Reading of the minutes dispensed with. First matter of business taken up was in regard to land owned by the Village situated in Block 8 and Lot 13 below the . Mr. John Hamlet offered $12.00 for the use of said land for one year on motion duly made seconded and declared carried his offer was accepted. At this time a delegation of members from the Fire Dept headed by Mr. Fred Ayers Fire Chief appeared who presented a very complete report of fires attended and expense of same. Mr. Ayer read a report of election of Officers in the Fire Department and asked the Council to confirm the same. The following officers were chosen Fire Chief Fred Ayer, Asst. Chief Geo Cornelius on motion duly made seconded and declared carried Mr. Fred Ayer was declared elected Fire Chief and Geo Cornelius Asst. Fire Chief on motion duly made seconded and declared carried. The Fire Chief was authorized to purchase necessary supplies and repairs for his department subject to the approval of the council. A file was presented for expense of attending fire on Mar 31, 1922 at the Old Holgate place March 31, 1922 amount $19.00 on motion fee allowed and clerk ordered to draw an order for the amount. The Fire Chief also asked the Council for permission to move the Fire Siren to a more suitable position without any expense to the village. On motion his request was granted. On motion the council adopted the following schedule of wages for attending fires. $1.00 for first hour and 7 5 cents for each additional hour for each man reporting at fire. Mr. Nick Faust trustee of Catholic Church came before the council stating that they would like to do some grading on Landers St on the west side of their property and asking Council to have the grade stakes sit so they could proceed to do their grading. On motion duly made seconded and declared carried the president appointed C.A. Morse Trustee and John Hamlet Trustee a committee to confer with the Trustee of the Catholic Church and also to have grade stakes set as requested it being understood that most of this work will be done by private subscriptions. Mr. L.G. Nelson representing the Elk River Power and Light Co came before the Council and asked that they co­operate with his Co in regard to use of Power at the Pumping Station in order that other users of the Power might be given satisfaction. The Council assured Mr. Nelson that they were willing to do all they could to satisfy all people using the Power.
