<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />November 12, 1913 <br /> <br /> <br />A regular meeting of Village Council was held at the Office of C.F. Firman President of Village <br />Council on Wednesday evening Nov 12, 1913. <br /> <br />Present: C.F. Firman Pres, F.M. Plank, Ed Keegan, and E.E. Scott Trustees and W.F. Chadbourne <br />Clerk. <br />W.H. Clawson of the National Surety Co. Meeting called to order by Pres at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />W.H. Clawson of the National Surety Co Bondsman for te Grand Bridge Contractor for repairs on <br />Miss. River Bridge N. 668 after investigating the affairs in regard to contract offered the following <br />advice in regard to condition of Bridge Co <br /> <br />That we have a resolution notifying the Grand Bridge Co to complete said contract immediately or <br />be declared in default. <br /> <br />The following resolution was adopted and Clerk ordered to send copy to The Grand Bridge Co St. <br />Paul also a copy to the National Surety Co Minneapolis. <br /> <br />Whereas: the Grand Bridge Co of South St. Paul, Minn. having failed to complete contract for <br />Bridget No. (668) across the Miss River and have withdrawn their men and tools and said contract <br />having expired Aug 1, 1913 the said Grand Bridge Co having been granted all the time necessary to <br />complete the same <br /> <br />Therefore be it resolved that the Village Council of the Village of Elk River Minn notify the said <br />Grand Bridge Co that they commence work on said bridge on or before Nov 20, 1913 and continue <br />work on same until finished. If the said Grand Bridge Co fail to do as above notified said contract <br />will be declared in default by the said Village Council and said council will call upon the National <br />Surety Co to complete the job. <br /> <br />B.L. Hall city weighmaster presented his report for season of 1913 – Aug 11 to Nov 11 on motion <br />report accepted and pub on file. <br /> <br />Roy Scott made application for license to sell cigarettes at his peace of business on motion license <br />granted. <br /> <br />On motion F.M. Plank was appointed a committee to visit the Village of Lindstrom and see about <br />purchasing lamps for street with authority to purchase same if satisfactory. <br /> <br />No further business adjourned. <br /> <br />W.F.
