After that <br />meeting, legal counsel expressed concerns regarding cross-referencing home occupations and interim uses and <br />suggested the City Council not act on Section 30-801 alone. Additionally, the City Council adopted an interim <br />ordinance (moratorium) on October 2, 2023, prohibiting the issuance of home occupation permits until the new <br />ordinance is adopted. <br /> <br />The moratorium provides the city with the necessary time to review other sections of the ordinance, cross- <br />referencing home occupations and interim uses, and ensuring the guidance from the Planning Commission and <br />the City Council can be included. The moratorium will expire upon publication of the new ordinance, or January <br />26, 2024, whichever occurs first. <br /> <br />As a reminder, the following key components of Section 30-801 were recommended by the commission to be <br />updated in the home occupation ordinance: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The Elk River Vision <br />A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional <br /> <br />service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity. <br />Updated: January 2023 <br /> <br />
