VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING November 7, 1955 The regular meeting of the Elk River Village Council was called to order by Mayor Schwartz on Nov. 7, 1955 with all members present. The minutes of the last regular and special meetings were read and approved. Harry Dreissig, Fire Chief, reported that the Fire Department needs some new hose. A motion was made by Bailey and seconded by Meyer to authorize the Fire Department to buy 200 feet of hose. Carried. Upon motion by Briggs and second by Dow the on and off beer license of Sherman Sachs was renewed for one year. A communication was received from the Elk River Associated Industries Inc. regarding zoning of the village. The letter was placed on file but no action was taken. Marshall, Oliver Micheau, who recently resigned was present at the meeting. He asked to be reinstated as Marshall. A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Meyer that Oliver Micheau be reinstated as Village Marshall at the same salary as before and that the Council shall regulate the hours to be worked by the Marshall and deputy. Motion carried. A motion was made by Briggs and seconded by Dow to set the hours for the coming village election at from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. Carried.
