______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> <br />TO: <br />ERMU Commission <br />FROM: <br />Jenny Foss – Communications & Administrative Coordinator <br />MEETING DATE: <br />August 8, 2023 <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />5.4 <br />SUBJECT: <br />Field Services Facility Open House Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br /> <br />BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION: <br />• The ERMU Open House is Thursday, August 24 from 4-8 p.m. with the theme being <br />“Meet Your Hometown Team.” <br />• The open house committee has been meeting monthly to ensure all planning tasks are <br />completed. <br />• Details about the event, including parking information and an event map, can be found <br />under Featured News on our homepage. <br />• Communication of the event will continue throughout the month of August via social <br />media, newspaper, bill message, newsletters, SmartHub, roadside signage, and call <br />capture (robo call). <br />• Visitors will be able to enter the building through either the main doors by the flagpole <br />or through the lower level west facing garage doors. <br />• Staff will be wearing highlighter yellow shirts for easy visibility and will be stationed in <br />all key areas to assist guests as needed. Additional signage will be placed around the <br />facility to help direct guests as well. <br />• There will be cupcakes, water, and popcorn available for free and two food trucks with <br />items for purchase (Mac’s Mini’s and Brain Freezze). <br />• There will be three games for kids to play (football toss, lollipop wheel, and Gatorade <br />ring toss) along with four face painters from Elk River High School. <br />• Lineworkers will be showcasing pole top rescues and bucket truck self-rescues. A hands- <br />on electrical equipment demonstration will be set up in the lineworkers area as well. <br />• Water staff will be performing a “Hydrant Hysteria” demonstration every half hour <br />starting at 4:30. This event requires a team of two to assemble a Waterous fire hydrant <br />in less than five minutes. There are approximately forty pieces that require strength, <br />finesse, and speed to be able to piece together a functioning hydrant from street level. <br />• Additional education tables will be set up featuring electric, locating, water, and rebate <br />information using displays and flyers. Giveaways will be located at the rebate table <br />including EV-ER footballs, pens, and lightbulbs. <br />• The police department will have a Child ID table on site. <br />86
