Request for Action <br />To <br />Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council <br />4.12 <br />Agenda Section <br />Meeting Date <br />Prepared by <br />Consent Agenda <br />July 17, 2023 <br />Tim Sevcik, Street and Park Superintendent <br />Item Description <br />Reviewed by <br />Fleet Replacement — Public Works <br />Justin Femrite P.E., Public Works Director <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the 2023 Street, Park and Building Maintenance Divisions equipment replacement fund <br />purchases of five (5) pickups. <br />Background/Discussion <br />Over the past three years Council has approved the purchase of twelve (12) pickup trucks for replacements within tl <br />Public Works Department's fleet. Due to factory shutdowns as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic in 2021, the <br />subsequent nationwide chip shortage in 2022, and manufacture production shortages in 2023 the city has been unab. <br />to procure any vehicles from the state contract for three years. As a result, the Council approved staff to work with <br />local vendors to purchase vehicles from dealer lots and supplemented the purchase of these vehicles with $195,000 i <br />additional ARPA funds. <br />Staff has been working with Cornerstone Ford of Elk River over the past several weeks to procure the necessary <br />trucks. Cornerstone Ford currently has five (5) trucks available for the city to purchase and an additional seven (7) <br />trucks arriving in late August. <br />Staff is recommending proceeding with the purchase of five (5) F-350 Superduty pickup trucks from Cornerstone <br />Ford of Elk River utilizing a combination of funds budgeted in the 2023 Fleet Replacement Fund and ARPA funds <br />approved by Council. $250,000 was approved in the Equipment Replacement Fund for the purchase of these five <br />trucks. The total purchase price quoted by Cornerstone Ford of Elk River for these units is $302,539.97.
