Once the work session <br />discussion is complete, the Council can: <br />1. Ask for more information, clarification, and/or changes. Staff will then bring this item back during an <br />April work session, or, <br />2. If comfortable with moving forward, provide staff with desired updates and changes to be included with a <br />formal action for adoption. <br />If the Council needs more information and time, staff �vould like the Council to direct staff to change the Focused <br />Area StudyT zoning to the zones as outlined in the information provided. <br />Background/Discussion <br />The Council was introduced to the pYoposed amendments at their Februaryr 21, 2023, woYk session where staff <br />pYesented the information and answeYed questions. AfteY discussions, staff indicated the item would be brought <br />back during a futuYe work session, after the Council had additional time to review the amendments. <br />Wh`T are these changes being�ro�osed? <br />The Comprehensive Plan is a guiding policyT document that promotes the communityT's vision for the next 20 <br />yTears. The plan includes goals and objectives to address the needs and desires of the community. The current plan <br />�vas approved in October of 2021. <br />In terms of zoning, the Comprehensive Plan play-s a critical role in shaping the cit�T's land use regulations. Zoning <br />is the process of dividing land into different districts or zones, each with its o`vn permitted land uses and <br />development standards. Overall, the Comprehensive Plan helps ensure that the cityT's zoning regulations are <br />aligned with its long-term vision for gro`vth and development The current Comprehensive Plan points towards <br />the creation of a new or significantly changed residential zoning districts.
