<br />Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Economic Development Authority 7.1 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />General Business March 20, 2023 Joshua Mollan, Economic Development Specialist <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Recharge MN Contribution Brent O’Neil, Economic Development Director <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, a contribution of $2,500 to Recharge MN to support Elk River’s EV Expo and Test Drive <br />Event. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />The City of Elk River, along with other partners (Sherburne County, Elk River Municipal Utilities, Elk River Area <br />Chamber of Commerce, Initiative Foundation, and other local stakeholders), are working with the non-profit <br />Recharge MN to host an electric vehicle expo and test drive event in Elk River in early August. <br /> <br />This free event will be funded substantially by sponsorships and donations at the FT Center. This contribution of <br />$2,500 will help cover costs of the event and is also similar to a sponsorship in that the EDA would appear on <br />marketing materials and have a booth at the expo portion of the event. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br />This $2,500 would be expensed from the Advertising/Marketing budget where $10,000 is planned for Energy City <br />Programs. <br /> <br />Mission/Policy/Goal <br />Support local businesses and programs that promote clean energy. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> None <br /> <br /> <br />The Elk River Vision <br />A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional <br /> <br />service, and community engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity. <br />Updated: January 2023 <br /> <br />
