��i <br />Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Tony Mauren — Governance & Communications Manager <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />February 14, 2023 <br />2.4 <br />SUBJECT: <br />Data Practices Policy - <br />Responsible Authority and Data Practices Compliance Official <br />Appointments <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Adopt, by motion, a resolution appointing General Manager Mark Hanson as the Responsible <br />Authority, and Governance <br />& Communications Manager Tony Mauren as the Data Practices <br />Compliance Official. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />As part of our Data Practices Policy, ERMU is required by state statute to appoint an employee <br />as the Responsible Authority to administer the requirements of government data within the <br />utility, and a Data Practices Compliance Official whom persons may direct questions or <br />concerns regarding problems in obtaining access to data or other data practices matters. At the <br />February 8, 2022, commission meeting, the Commission appointed General Manager Theresa <br />Slominski as the Responsible Authority, and Executive Administrative Manager Tony Mauren as <br />the Data Practices Compliance Official. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />With the retirement of Theresa Slominski, a new employee should be appointed by the Board <br />of Commissioners. Staff recommends the appointment of General Manager Mark Hanson as the <br />Responsible Authority.
