<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 6, 1909 <br /> <br /> <br />The Common Council met at the office O.J. Whitman. <br /> <br />Members present: F.L. Salter, president, J. Virgin B. Carr, L. Pollard, trustees, O.J. Whitman, <br />recorder. Meeting called to order by the President at 5:45 p.m. <br /> <br />Minutes of last meeting read and approved. <br /> <br />The following bills were read and on a motion by Virgin and seconded by Pollard were allowed. <br />John Bither – for services as Village Marshal for August - $38.33 <br />M.K. Iliff – Village Marshal, 8 nights in August - $6.67 <br />Harold ?eays – lighting street lamps for month of August - $25.00 <br />R.D. Roath – 1 ¼ days work with team and man on road - $7.50 <br />S.F. Wright – setting 2 lamp posts - $.75 <br />The Howe Scale Co. – 18 ton 22x2 How scale & 12 Howe weigh books - $181.00 <br />W. L. Babcock Sons Co. – dynamite, fuse & caps - $2.62 <br />Davis Bros. – fuse, caps & dynamite - $5.92 <br />W.Dimick – work on road - $123.13 <br />R. Stimson – work on road - $36.50 <br />The Patterson Street Lighting Co. – 6 domes - $6.00 <br />Standard Oil Co. – 80 gallons gasoline - $10.64 <br />Hubner Mercantile Co. – merchandise - $1.70 <br />E. Davis – work on road - $21.00 <br />A.Low – work on road - $37.50 <br />Geo. Low – work on road - $37.50 <br />H.B. Nickerson – work with team - $63.00 <br />E. Mulbnep – work on road - $4.00 <br /> Total = $739.56 <br /> <br />It was moved by Pollard and seconded by Carr that the street committee be authorized to put in a <br />sewer system on Main Street sufficient to take care of the water and also to put a catch basin on <br />Depot Street to take care of the water on the north end of the park. Carried. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Virgin and seconded by Whitman that the Elk River – Burn’s road be <br />covered with clay and gravel from J.G.A. Nickerson’s resident to the town limit. Carried. <br /> <br />It was moved by Virgin and seconded by Pollard to buy a fence to surround the park and to be put <br />up. Carried. <br /> <br />It was moved by Pollard and seconded by Virgin to repair all the wooden sidewalks to make them <br />safe.
