<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />JANUARY 5, 1909 <br /> <br /> <br />The Common Council met at the store of R.E. Dare on Tuesday, January 5, 1909. <br /> <br />Present: <br />R.E. Dare, President, W.P. Rhode, S.M. Crockett, J. deBoory trustees, W.F. Ghadboune, recorder. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by President at 7:00 p.m. This being the annual meeting of Council to look <br />over books and accounts of treasurer and recorder. They proceeded to do so the treasurer having <br />presented his report as also the recorder after canceling all vouchers the reports were found correct <br />and ordered published in Star News. <br /> <br />Harry Thorpe made formal application for a license to operate a bowling alley in a certain building <br />situated on Lot 6 Blok 11 of Village. On motion application was granted. <br /> <br />The following bills were there presented and on motion allowed. <br />Charles M. Babcock – rent of Eugene House 1908 - $60.00 <br />W.F. Ghadboune – Recorder salary & postage - $36.50 <br />The Patterson Street Lighting Co. – chimneys and mantels - $13.20 <br />The Van Telburg Co. – gasoline - $21.59 <br />S.S. Trask – Marshall, street lighting December and work on snowplow - $55.00 <br />John Plante – work on snowplow - $18.20 <br />S.M. Crockett – wood for ? person & ? on snowplow - $8.60 <br />W.P. Rhoda – freight - $3.35 <br />Geo. E. Parsons M.D. – disinfecting at Fuches - $7.00 <br />J.F. Blocker - ? on snowplow - $2.00 <br />Justice deBooy – on account of fire engine - $10.50 <br /> <br /> <br />No further business offering adjourned. <br /> <br />W.F.
