<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 1, 1928 <br /> <br />th <br />A special meeting of the Village Council was held on Saturday, Sept. 29 1928 at the Library Room. <br /> <br />Present – Thomas E. Beck, Pres., Geo Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, E.E. Scott, Trustees, W.F. <br />Chadbourne, Clerk <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the Pres at 8:30 P.M. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed. <br />Star News printing 9.70 <br />E.R. Power and Light Co repairs on st. lights 15.20 <br />Fred Ayers labor on water works 22.00 <br />H.R. Caley Hdw Co goods for fire barn 1.50 <br />Kliever Bros cutting out tree at hall 15.00 <br />E.R. Fire Dept attending fire Bert Glidden 15.00 <br />Middlestadt Bros fixing water main 5.40 <br />L.L. Bishop goods for Fred Shultz 6.34 <br />W.H. Clements st. work 77.30 <br />Chris Anderson grading at village hall 29.70 <br />Chas. Roggatz grading at village hall 59.40 <br />A Ousley grading at village hall 39.60 <br />W.H. Clements grading at village hall 65.40 <br />Arthur Youse grading at village hall 35.70 <br /> <br />The council next proceeded to make up the budget for the coming year. After listening to the <br />financial report from the clerk and estimating the amount necessary to be raised the following <br />resolution was offered by the Village Clerk. <br /> <br />Resolved that the following amounts be assessed to finance the Village for the following year for the <br />purpose named. <br />Revenue Fund 8000.00 <br />Road and Bridge Fun 2000.00 <br />Bond and Interest 4000.00 <br />Library Fund 200.00 <br />Poor Fund 200.00 <br />Music 2 mill tax voted <br /> <br />The motion was seconded by E.E. Scott Trustee and declared carried by the Pres. <br /> <br />The clerk reported that Cavanagh Bros had signed the contract for building the new village hall, and <br />had already commenced excavating. <br /> <br />It was unanimously agreed that we have a new ballot box to replace the old ones which were a <br />nuisance. Clerk authorized to procure one. <br /> <br /> <br />
