<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 1, 1927 <br /> <br />The regular monthly meeting of the Village Council was held at the Library room at Elk River on <br />Monday, August 1, 1927. <br /> <br />Present – Roland K. Wilson, Pres, Geo Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, EE Scott, Trustees, W.F. <br />Chadbourne, Clerk <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the President at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Mrs. T.M. Olsen, President of the Library Board presented the annual report of the Library Assn. <br />Showing the Receipts as $94.60. Expenditures $77.24. Leaving a balance on hand of $17.34. Report <br />read and placed on file. The following directors terms of office expired: Mrs. G.H. Tyler, Mrs. H.R. <br />Caley, and Mrs. Jesse Parsons. On motion the same ladies were re-appointed to fill the vacancy. <br /> <br />After some discussion it was decided to lay a crosswalk across Hope Street between blocks One and <br />Five connecting sidewalks from C.A. Morse to the M.E. Church. <br /> <br />In regard to Frost Box around the supply pipe at the Water Tank the clerk was instructed to <br />correspond with builders exchange in regard to bids on same. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed. <br />James McCullough sidewalk and curbing 177.70 <br />Fred Ayers labor at Fire Barn and Water Works 24.75 <br />Henry Rupprecht Rent of House Mrs. Decker July 10.00 <br />League of Minn. Municipalities dues 1928 20.00 <br />Reed and Sherwood lumber for streets 4.66 <br />Robert Adams cabinet for library 31.00 <br />F.W. Nickerson surveying sidewalk 6.50 <br />National Meter Co. repairs meters 19.38 <br />E.R. Lumber Co tiling cement lumber 72.87 <br />Maurice Goodwin tapping pipe 2 times Olsen and Reed 4.00 <br />Russell Lass painting sign for fire barn 2.00 <br />Lee Slayback street work 26.50 <br />W.H. Clements street work 25.00 <br /> <br />The state Fire Marshall recommended that the Council pass an ordinance in regard to burning of <br />rubbish in open fires in the Village Fire limits. <br /> <br />The clerk was instructed to have such an ordinance drawn and presented at the next regular meeting. <br /> <br />No further business appearing, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />W.F.
