<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 4, 1927 <br /> <br />The regular monthly meeting of the Village Council was held at the Library room on Monday, April <br />4, 1927 <br /> <br />Present – Roland K. Wilson, Pres, George Cornelius, L.L. Bishop, EE Scott, Trustees, W.F. <br />Chadbourne, Clerk <br /> <br />Visitors – Joseph Lane Minneapolis, Minn. James Robinette Minneapolis, Minn <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the Pres at 8 o’clock PM <br /> <br />W.M. Hamlet presented a petition signed by 13 business men asking the council to enact an <br />ordinance in regard to people selling goods or merchandise from any vehicle on the streets of Elk <br />River without a license therefor. After some discussion in regard to the legality of such an ordinance <br />the council postponed action in regard to the matter until further investigation. <br /> <br />Joseph Lane, Minneapolis, Minn presented plans of a tank flush valve to clean the sediment from <br />tanks without draining tank. Cost of same to be $250.00 installed. <br /> <br />This proposition looked very good to the council. No action was taken. <br /> <br />James Robinette, Tank painter, gave an estimate for re-painting the water tank it being 3 years since <br />painting 2 coats. Cost of labor only to be $200.00 for one coat. No action was taken. <br /> <br />Mr. Fred Vassar, Ice Dealer, asked for some repair work on the street leading to his place of <br />business. Referred to com. On streets and bridges. <br /> <br />This being the first meeting of the newly elected Council, the same Council being reelected, the <br />President announced that the same committee would be re-appointed for the ensuring year. <br /> <br />On motion William Gliff was re-appointed Village Marshal and Pumper. Salary to be $75.00 per <br />month as Marshal and $35.00 as pumper. Clerk instructed to draw his order for $110.00 each month. <br /> <br />The clerk was also instructed to draw warrants each month for all salaries and electric power and <br />light bills. <br /> <br />The bond of Eugene Bryan elected judge of the peace was presented and accepted. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed <br /> <br />E.R. Lumber Co. material for St. and Fire Barn 21.51 <br />Fred Ayers janitor and reading meters 15.00 <br />E.R. Fire Dept attending fires at Davis and Smits 46.00 <br />L.L. Bishop goods for Mrs. Dawson 8.30 <br />Standard Oil Co. gas book for Fire Engine 10.00 <br /> <br />
