<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 1, 1924 <br /> <br />A regular meeting of the Village Council was held on Monday evening Sept 1, 1924 at the Library <br />Room <br /> <br />Present – Roland K. Wilson, Pres, Geo Cornelius and L.L. Bishop, Trustees and W.F. Chadbourne <br />Clerk <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the Pres at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Mr. T.H. Daly scy. Of the Sherburne Co. Fair Assn. came before the Council and asked that the <br />Council make an appropriation toward the Co. Fair. After some discussion the following Resolution <br />was offered and adopted by a unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Resolution <br /> <br />That the sum of $200.00 be and hereby is appropriated to the Sherburne Co. Fair to be held Sept <br />15-16-17 1924 and Clerk directed to draw a warrant for same. <br /> <br />Moved and declared carried that William Gliff City Pumper be instructed to use the gasoline engine <br />at the pump house for pumping water until further notice. <br /> <br />Moved and carried that a license be granted P.V. Christian to retail whole milk and cream in the <br />Village of Elk River. <br /> <br />Several complaints having been made to the Village Council in regard to the use of slot machines in <br />the Village of Elk River. The council voted unanimously to prohibit the operating of same in the <br />Village. Clerk instructed to publish notice of this action in the Star News. The following bills were <br />presented and on motion allowed and Clerk instructed to draw warrants for same. <br /> <br />H.R. Caley Hdw Co goods at water works 4.99 <br />E.R. Power and Light Co repairs on St. Lights 21.70 <br />E.R. Power and Light Co power at pump house 82.00 <br />S.R. Houlton gravel for st. 10.00 <br />Total 118.69 <br /> <br />No further business adjourned. <br /> <br />W.F. Chadbourne, Village Clerk <br />
