<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 11, 1924 <br /> <br />A Special Meeting of the village council was held at the Library Room on Monday Feb 11, 1924. <br /> <br />Present – C.E. Brown Pres, B.E. Fournier and Geo Cornelius Trustees and W.F. Chadbourne, Clerk <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the President at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />The minutes of the last meeting read and approved. <br /> <br />A petition was presented to the Council signed by thirty resident property owners, asking for the <br />vacation of a certain highway described as follows: to wit <br /> <br />Beginning at the Railroad crossing on Princeton street in the Village of Elk River and running <br />northerly and Northeasterly through the Village of Elk River Township of Elk River, Township of <br />Livonia, Village of Lake Fremont, Township of Baldwin, and known ad the Nickerson and Priceton <br />Road. <br /> <br />The Petitioners ask the vacation of this road the following reason. At the present time this road is <br />known as State Road No. 18. In building this road the state did not follow the same course as that of <br />the old road it being necessary to avoid curves and other hinderances, to abandon certain parts of <br />the old road as described in this petition. Therefore they ask the vacation of the old road and land <br />returned to the original owners. <br /> <br />The following Resolution was presented and adopted by the unanimous vote of the council that the <br />petition be granted as requested and the road named in said petition be vacated. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed and clerk ordered to issue warrants for <br />same. <br /> <br />Dalys Garage storage of fire engine 59.30 <br />Fred Ayers fire chief attending fire 33.25 <br />E.R. Power and Light Co repairs 2.40 <br />Geo E Page disinfecting 7.00 <br />Caly Hdw Co goods 2.35 <br />Star News printing 7.50 <br />Wis. Motor Mft Go repairs at pump house 47.96 <br />N.S. Oil Co gas 31.35 <br />Standard Oil Co book 10.00 <br />Wis. Motor Co repairs 4.18 <br />Total 207.29 <br /> <br />No further business. Meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />W.F.
