<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 5, 1923 <br /> <br />A Special Meeting of the Village Council was held at the Library Room on Wednesday evening Sept. <br />th <br />5 1923 <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the President at 8 o’clock P.M. <br /> <br />Reading of the minutes of last meeting dispersed with, the question of purchasing 500 feet of fire <br />hose was taken up for consideration, after considerable discussion the motion was made, seconded <br />and declared carried. That the Council purchase 500 ft of fire hose called the “White King” from the <br />Goodrich Rubber Co. through the H.R. Caley Hdw Co. at 95 cents per foot including couplings. <br /> <br />Mr. Earl Darrow Village Treas. presented his resignation. On motion his resignation was accepted. <br /> <br />On motion duly made seconded and declared carried, Mr. T.H. Daley was appointed Village <br />Treasurer to fill vacancy caused by the resignation of Earl Darrow. The Clerk was instructed to <br />notify him immediately. <br /> <br />Mr. Grover Malroupe presented an application for a license to operate his pool room and bowling <br />alley. Said application being made in form and compliance with Ordinance No 18 recently adopted <br />by the council. <br /> <br />On motion duly made seconded and declared carried the Clerk was instructed to issue licenses to <br />said Grover Malroupe. <br /> <br />The annual report of the Elk River Library Assn. was presented, read, and on motion accepted and <br />placed on file. <br /> <br />The President as directors of the Library the following named ladies Mrs. Davies, B.J. Plummber, <br />D.W. Longfellow, and C.W. Guptil. <br /> <br />Mr. T.H. Daly, secy of the Sherburne Co. Fair Assn asked that the Council appropriate 250.00 to aid <br />after considerable discussion, a motion was made and seconded that the Council appropriate the <br />sum of 200.00 to aid the Fair. Motion declared carried. <br /> <br />Mr. J.W. Thomas asked the privilege of laying his drain tile under the St. crossing on Main Street at <br />the intersection of Bridge St. On motion his request was granted. <br /> <br />The following bills were presented and on motion allowed and clerk ordered to issue warrant for <br />same. <br /> <br />Northern States Oil Co Gas at Pump House 43.60 <br />Dalys Garage Rent and repairs on Sprinkler 13.50 <br /> <br /> <br />No further business meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />
