<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 19, 1920 <br /> <br />Special meeting of the village council held at the office of the Elk River Lumber Co. <br /> <br />Members present J.H. Virgin, President, Bert Carr, Trustee, Chas Selhauer, Trustee, D.W. <br />Longfellow, Trustee, M.P. Williams, Clerk <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the President. <br /> <br />Meeting was held for the purpose of getting ideas from Mr. W.C. Bock, Engineer, for the village, <br />regarding the pipes and ect he suggested to the council to use lead pipe to the curb and a ¾ inch <br />should be used. <br /> <br />He also suggested that all property holders should pay for pipe from center of street which would be <br />fair as pipe is not in center of street. <br /> <br />City should charge each property holder for pipe to curb. <br /> <br />It was decided that there should be fixed rate on water. <br /> <br />It was also suggested city should have a tapping machine for tapping mains. This machine should be <br />in charge of clerk and if anyone wants to connect with main they must fill out an application and get <br />a permit from the village council or clerk in order to use machine. <br /> <br />It was suggested by Mr. Virgin a value on street West of lumber yard to put in so as to test Mains. <br /> <br />Motion made by Virgin to disregard the proposition – which A. Jongeboard and Gaye Shannon <br />made in regard to changing sidewalk along the Babcok Building from post office down the <br />proposition was that they wanted to pave all the way up to Babcock Building. This motion was <br />denied by the council and that sidewalk be where it is. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed and clerk ordered to make warrant for same. <br /> <br />Phelps Drake Co warrant # 1896 $5253.51 <br />W.A. Patenaude Warrant 1897 2.50 <br />Fred Ayers Warrant 1898 7.35 <br />W.S. Nott Co 1899 5.60 <br />$5268.96 <br /> <br />Motion made by D.W. Longfellow 300 ft of Fire hose be bought. Motion seconded by J.H. Virgin <br />and approved by Council. <br /> <br />No further business. Meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />“Signed” J.H. President <br />M.P. Williams Clerk <br />
