<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER MEETING CITY COUNCIL <br />MARCH 09, 1920 <br /> <br />Regular meeting of the Village Council held at the Office of Elk River Lumber Co on Tuesday the <br />th <br />9 day, March 1920. <br /> <br />Members present J.H. Virgin, President, Bert Carr, Trustee and Wm Norval, Clerk <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the President at 8:30 <br /> <br />Mr. E.J. Keegan presented an application from himself asking the council to vacate certain streets on <br />certain lots in the townsite of Orono Village of Elk River, Minn now owned by himself. These lots <br />were plated a great number of years ago and the streets particularly had not been used for that <br />purpose for the last fifteen years. After due consideration by the council the following resolution <br />was passed. <br /> <br />Be it resolved by the village council that the petition from Mr. E.J. Keegan for vacation of streets <br />names in his petition be granted by the Village Council and that the same be inscribed on the Village <br />minute book at this meting, it is also understood by the council that Mr. Keegan file a copy of said <br />petition with the village clerk. <br /> <br />The president filed a bill from the contractors Phelps Drake Co amounting to the sum of $4,117.40 <br />being for material delivered and work performed up to March 1, 1920. <br /> <br />The total bill amounted to 4844.00 less the 15% retained as per the contract $726.60 leaving <br />$4117.40 due them. Moved seconded and carried that the bill of Phelps Drake Co be all met and <br />that the clerk draw a warrant for the sum of $4,117.40 to satisfy said bill. <br /> <br />Mr. Virgin reported to the council that the fire alarm bell on the chemical truck was broken and <br />instructed the clerk to write to the W.S. Nott Cr Mpls and ascertain the cost of a new bell. <br /> <br />The following bills were allowed. <br /> <br />1865 Phelps Drake Co 4117.40 4342.70 <br />1873 Elk River P&L Co 119.00 1866 Sherburne Co Star News 66.25 <br />1874 Elk River P&L Rep 1.55 1867 Bank of Elk River 7.50 <br />1875 Wm Giff Marshall 50.00 1868 Wm Noval 4.00 <br />1876 Wm Noval salary 18.75 1869 Bert Carr salary 10.00 <br />1877 Elk River garage 20.00 1870 John H. Virgin 10.00 <br />1878 Morneau and Co 6.00 1871 E.J. Keegan salary 5.00 <br />1872 Elk River transfer 10.00 <br /> 4,342.70 4445.45 <br /> <br />No more business. Council adjourned. <br /> <br />
