��i <br />Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Chris Sumstad — Electric Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />December 13, 2022 <br />6.1h <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Installed seven new residential services, which involves the connection of a secondary <br />line once the customer requests service. <br />• Finished installing the 500 MCM underground wire to its destination point in Otsego for <br />the new Feeder 44. Crews will start again in the spring with 500 MCM wire installation <br />from Station 14 in Elk River to near the Parrish Avenue bridge. Along with the wire <br />install, crews will terminate wire and set switchgear boxes. This new feeder to Otsego <br />will add capacity needed for future Otsego growth. <br />• Installed primary wire and two three phase transformers for the two new apartments <br />buildings being constructed at the Delta Apartment Complex. <br />• Installed 950 feet of primary wire along with a transformer for a new residence on 193rd <br />Avenue in Elk River. <br />• Line crews helped the substation tech test and install new programming on the four <br />feeder reclosers at the Otsego Substation. <br />• Joe Schmidt from Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association (MMUA) was hereon <br />November 28 and presented on respiratory hazards and hand safety. <br />• Jay Reading from MMUA was hereon November 22 for a quarterly Job Training & Safety <br />training, covering power quality and outage management. <br />• We were happy to take delivery of 20 single phase transformers last week. Single phase <br />transformers have some of the longest lead times of any of the material we are <br />currently seeking. <br />• Staff finished moving material and equipment from the old line shop into the new <br />facility. The new workshops, mechanics bay, and inventory area are being worked on <br />and outfitted as crews get a chance. <br />• Replaced a Highway 10 median light that was struck by a vehicle. MnDOT assisted with <br />traffic control to create a safe work zone. We repaired the base and set the new pole. <br />• Working on some preliminary planning for 2023 power needs at the Cargill campus.
