LSC Report to the Library Board
Lori Lundstrom October 25, 2022
Final statistics for the 2022 Summer Reading Program:
Performances: Total attendance for our two "all ages" Legacy programs was 103. (One of these
was our final performer Dazzling Dave in August with an attendance of 54 people.) Including
storytime, we had 20 programs for a combined total attendance of 380.
Reading portion of SRP: 986 total participants, total # of books given away: 580+
Children 3 and under: 106 participants
School age kids: 781 participants
Teens: 99 participants
Sherburne County Parks Story Stroll # of books given away: 51
After a 2 year hiatus, the Junior Master Gardener program met again for 8 Thursdays from June
through August. The total tally was 114 which gives an average of 14 children per class.
Everyone seemed to have a lot of fun so we are looking forward to hosting it again in summer
2023.
At the end of August we had the graduation ceremony for the 6 kids who participated in "1000+
books before Kindergarten." We got permission from the parents to post the picture on our Elk
River Facebook page. It was really cute and had 49 likes!
Elk River Farmer's Market outreach saw dwindling numbers as we moved through the summer,
leading me to conclude that summer 2023, we will limit the library's presence to opening day.
Community Room transition: The community room/meeting room is now booked through the
library instead of through Elk River Parks and Rec. A damage deposit is no longer required.
Patrons use the Great River Regional Library website to request the meeting room. Patrons
may also request the meeting room over the phone, with some additional steps.
Capital Improvement Funds: Due to a backlog with the upholstery service we are using to
refinish our comfy chairs, the furniture will most likely not get finished this calendar year and
these particular monies will most likely roll over to next year's budget. However, 8 new office
chairs have been picked out for the library staff and are currently in the process of being
ordered by the GRRL accounting department.
Friends Book Sale: Final tally was $2,832.70 which is a record high and is $361.65 over last year.
This may be due to the fact that our sales are yearly now rather than twice a year.
