Elk River <br /> Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br /> TO: FROM: <br /> ERMU Commission Mike Tietz—Technical Services Superintendent <br /> MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br /> November 14, 2017 6.1d <br /> SUBJECT: <br /> Staff Update <br /> ACTION REQUESTED: <br /> None <br /> DISCUSSION: <br /> • In October, The Locating department had a total of 418 locate tickets consisting of four <br /> emergency tickets, 13 cancellations, 11 meetings, 333 normal tickets and 47 updated <br /> tickets. This is an 8%decrease in volume of tickets from the previous month. <br /> • Electric Technicians continue with the meter reading,power bill, substation checks, <br /> hanging red-tags, meter read-outs, disconnects, reconnects, dealing with meter and off- <br /> peak issues, as well as delivering and installing new meters to commercial customers. <br /> • Staff collected oil samples from all substation transformers for yearly testing. We still <br /> need to collect samples from 3 regulator banks and then can send in samples for analysis. <br /> • Staff continues to perform meter audits throughout the system. Field and office staffs <br /> have developed a schedule for the multiple billing cycles transition. Metering department <br /> staff will begin reprogramming demand meters that are not presently subject to demand <br /> rates over the next month. <br /> • The power plant staff did the monthly engine run on October 27. All engines ran well <br /> with no problems.Notes were taken on what maintenance and repair needs staff will <br /> work on over the winter months. <br /> • Mapping department continues to enter GPS points and attribute points for all of our <br /> systems assets within the ESRI ArcView GIS system. The locators will get in-house <br /> training on how to GPS points as soon as locate requests slow down. <br /> • The Engineer has gotten involved with learning our metering software and has made <br /> great progress on the MV-90 software as well as familiarizing himself with our electrical <br /> facilities. To date,the Engineer has had limited involvement with the field services <br /> expansion plans,which I anticipate will increase as we move forward with the project. <br /> Page 1 of 1 <br /> 90 <br />
