UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO:FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Tom Sagstetter – Conservation & Key Accounts Manager <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />August 11, 2020 6.1e <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> In the last 30 days, the level two charger located downtown had 5 sessions andprovided <br />customers with 15 kWh. The DC fast charger at the Coborn’s fuel station had 14 sessions <br />and provided 131kWh. The charger in the ERMU/City Hall parking lot had 10 sessions <br />and provided customers with 109kWh of green energy. There was a totalof charging 29 <br />sessions and 255 kWh of energy provided over the last 30 days. <br />The Elk River City Council approved the easement for theHometown WindPower <br />turbine project that is being provided by Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA). <br />th <br />The 160 kW DanWin Turbine will be installed at the Youth Athletic Complex on 165 <br />Avenue NW. Staff will work with MMPA to determine the construction timeline and final <br />interconnection of the generator. <br /> Staff has rolled out an LED Bulb Program to help promote customer registration for The <br />Connector, ERMU’s monthly electronic newsletter.Customers receive fourfree LEDs <br />bulbs when they provide a verified email address for the newsletter. The program will <br />offer the opportunity to conserve energy now with four free LEDs, and into the future <br />with the ongoing education and resources provided in The Connector.The goal is to <br />enroll100 new participants in the newsletter program. <br /> Staff is working with another residential customers that will be installing a new solar <br />photovoltaic array. Currently there are 3 systems that are in the process of being <br />permitted or constructed. <br /> Participated in a Midwest Clean Fuel Policy informational session. The purpose of the <br />session was to inform stakeholders of the goal to move a Low Carbon Fuel Standard <br />(LCFS) into policy discussions for 2021. The LCFS is focused on establishing a carbon <br />intensity standard to allow for the monetization of clean fuel transportation options. <br />Presentation were done by The Great Plains Institute, Fresh Energy, CalStart, General <br />Motors, and Xcel Energy. <br />Residential and commercial rebates continue at a steady pace.
