Memorandum <br /> <br />To: Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> <br />From: Michael Hecker, Parks and Recreation Director <br /> <br />Date: September 14, 2022 <br /> <br />Subject: Director’s Report <br /> <br />This report is a monthly highlight of department activities related to recent collaborations, strategic <br />planning, staff changes/developments, and park operations. <br /> <br />Orono Park <br />The post holes for the Orono Park Pickleball courts were completed on Friday, September 2. The fencing <br />was installed a few weeks earlier. The final acrylic surfacing and stripping should be complete this week. <br />The Orono Park splash pad will be shut off by September 30th annually. Staff will observe weather <br />forecasts in the final weeks leading up to this date with the possibility to winterize early, if needed. If <br />possible, the bathroom functionality will extend to October 15 at the latest. <br />The skate park lights should be installed by mid-October. <br />YAC <br />Ebert informed us the only items left on the YAC Concessions Building punch list is patch work and <br />painting. Their only painter got COVID and is behind in his work. We will continue to follow up with <br />them to get this done. <br />Rivers Edge Commons Park Dock <br />The Rivers Edge Commons Park Dock Dedication will be at 4:30 p.m., Monday, September 26. A plaque <br />honoring the memory of Dallas Carlson (Chris’s Father) will be unveiled at the event. Chris plans to have <br />family members attend. Also in attendance will be Craig Murphy and Shannon Tatro. City Council and <br />Parks Commissioners are encouraged to attend. <br />Trott Brook Tennis and Basketball Courts <br />The new tennis courts have been a huge hit under the new lights. <br />October Parks Commission Meeting is First Wednesday in October <br />A reminder the 2022 October Parks Commission regular meeting is October 5, 2022. <br />Item: 9
