i
Elk River
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
ERMU Commission Theresa Slominski — General Manager
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
July 12, 2022 6.1a
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• Our new General Manager, Mark Hanson, will be joining our team July 18, the week
following our Commission Meeting. He will serve as Deputy General Manager until I
retire at the end of the year. He will be set up in the GM office starting in July and I will
set up in a currently unused space right around the corner from the GM office. We are
working on an onboarding process where he will be introduced at various meetings,
meet staff, and can learn all about ERMU. He will be able to attend the Minnesota
Municipal Power Agency's annual meeting on July 26.
• At June's meeting, Commissioner Mary Stewart noted during the outage event of May
30, the call she received from the after-hours provider notifying her that her power had
been restored occurred several hours after her service was restored. We investigated
this more and I wanted to report back to the full commission. The outage was restored
in stages, Mary happened to be an earlier restoral after approximately two hours, while
the final customers weren't restored for approximately six hours. We don't currently
have the information available to be able to have our crews report back which specific
customers have been restored at each stage and so no calls are made until the last
customer is restored. Once we have Advanced Metering Infrastructure implemented we
can make additional improvements on our system that can better identify individually
affected customers in outage situations.
:•
