<br />Meeting of the Elk River EDA Beautification Committee <br />Held at the Elk River City Hall <br /> <br />Monday, May 9, 2022 <br /> <br />Members Present: Ryan Hardin, Melissa McAlpine, and Ashely Welsh (via Zoom) <br /> <br />Members Absent: Deb Hjermstad <br /> <br />Staff Present: Brent O’Neil, Economic Development Director <br /> Joshua Mollan, Economic Development Intern <br /> <br />1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the EDA Beautification Committee <br />was called to order at 10:09 a.m. by Chair Hardin. <br /> <br />2. Consider Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by McAlpine and seconded by Welsh to approve the agenda. <br /> <br />Motion carried 3-0. <br /> <br />3. Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by McAlpine and seconded by Welsh to approve the consent agenda. <br /> <br />Motion carried 3-0. <br /> <br />4.1 Open Discussion on 2022 Activities <br /> <br />Mr. O’Neil opened the floor for discussion on the future of the EDA Beautification <br />Committee. <br /> <br />The committee suggested involving local groups for potential clean-up events at parks or <br />high-traffic roadside areas in need of beautification. It was also suggested about determining <br />if a grant would be appropriate for local sports team fundraising as a reward for clean-up <br />efforts. The committee would also like to gain further knowledge on businesses undergoing <br />projects that would qualify them for a beautification award by pulling specific permits. They <br />also inquired on the city including a checkbox or dropdown option in the permit application <br />process to better track potential beautification award applicants. <br /> <br />Chair Hardin ended the discussion by suggesting the committee prepare to discuss if policy <br />changes are needed for the future of the committee and the award. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
