Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 4.9 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent June 20, 2022 Lauren Wipper, Human Resources Manager <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Hire Code Enforcement Officer Zack Carlton, Community Development Director <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the hiring of Graham Schultz to the position of code enforcement officer effective July 11, <br />2022. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />Our former code enforcement officer was promoted to building inspector. We went to market to fill the vacancy <br />and received 35 applications. We interviewed eight candidates and had second interviews with three finalists. After <br />a successful background check, we recommend Graham Schultz for the position. <br /> <br />Mr. Schultz has a degree in law enforcement and worked for the Carver County Sheriff’s Office for more than <br />seven years. Five of those years were as a community service officer which included performing code enforcement <br />in various communities in Carver County. In 2021, he left law enforcement and began working as a service pro for <br />Aptive Environmental Service. <br /> <br />Mr. Schultz will start at step A of pay grade 3N.
