UTILITIESCOMMISSION MEETING <br />TO:FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Dave Ninow – Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />May 10, 2022 6.1j <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> Delivered 20 new water meters, sealed the meter,installed an encoder receiver <br />transmitter, and took curb stop ties. <br /> Completed 15 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for coliform bacteria <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the <br />Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) <br /> Completed 21 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met the MDH standards <br />o Submitted the MDH Fluoride Report <br />SubmittedDischarge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Water Treatment Plantsto the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). <br />Submitted DMRfor theDiesel Generation Plantto the MPCA. <br /> A two-year paint warranty inspection at Auburn Street Water Tower only found a couple <br />minor spots that needed to be touched up. The paint coating on the tower was done <br />very well and should last for decades. Auburn Streetand Gary Street Water Towers have <br />both beenrefilled, passed water sample tests, and put back in service for the season. <br /> On April 13 gates at the Lake Orono Dam were opened for the first time this season to <br />maintain the lake level. Water department staff continues to check the lake level at the <br />Dam and adjusts the gates accordingly every weekday. <br />During routinemaintenance water department staff found that the pressure filter for <br />Well 9 had been losing filter media during backwashing. We have replaced the 110 cubic <br />feet of media lost and adjusted backwash flow rates to prevent the issue from <br />happening again. <br />Verizon Wirelesshas submitted revisedplans forupgradingequipment on Johnson <br />Street and Gary Street Water Towers. Therevisedplans are not addingany additional <br />antenna equipment to the towers thus staying within terms of the current lease <br />agreements. <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />137 <br />
