UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO:FROM:
ERMU Commission Mike Tietz –Technical Services Superintendent
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
May 10, 2022 6.1i
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• In April, the locators processed 404 locate tickets. These consisted of 4 emergency
tickets, 338 normal tickets, 37updated tickets, 8 cancellations, 11 meets, and 6
boundary surveys. This resulted in a 23.5% increase in tickets from the previous month
and a 32.1% decrease from the prior April.

• Electrical technicians completed 255 service order tasks, updated the power bill,
addressed customer meter issues and off-peak concerns.

• On April 21, staff ran generators #1 & #2 without incident. Engines #3 & #4 were turned
over, but we didn’t run them.

• Mapping department has been busy working on the GIS backlog and other projects.
Staff has been updating the Collector app with current information in preparation for
spring hydrant flushing.

• The substation apparatus technician replaced fencing grounds at the West Substation
that were missing. Staff has been developing a test procedure for testing of our molded
vacuum interrupter so that we can verify the settings that are programmed into them.
We are looking to use these as a replacement for fuse pads.

• On April 11, we announced that we had received proposals from eight different
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) vendors ranging in price from $2,946,339 to
$4,619,586. The AMI team and our consultants have been reviewing the submitted
proposals over the past few weeks to get familiar with each of these systems and trying
to determine which one will provide ERMU with the best long-term solution. We expect
to have a vendor shortlist together soon and a final selection made in July. We are
anticipating the initial deployment of about 300 meters in place and running sometime
in the fourth quarter of this year.
______________________________________________________________________________
Page 1 of 1
136
