Staff also met with the Chamber Board on the importance of having a
representative on the Energy City Commission (ECC). Staff reviewed the draft versions of
the ECC’s Mission and Vision with the Board.
The number of residential solar installations is increasing. Currently there are 19 active
projects under review or construction. There have also been customers calling in to ask
if the installation companies are working with ERMU. Staff has informed them that
ERMU is not working with any solar installation companies. Staff is developing
educational materials to help customers make informed decisions on whether
distributed generation ownership is right for them or if the Clean Energy Choice
program is a better option. This information will be delivered through social media and
on the website.
The Clean Energy Certificates were sent out to all customers that participated in the
program in 2021. Many customers are excited to see the environmental benefits from
participating in the program. Each customer is informed of the number of kWh of green
energy they purchased, and how much that benefits the environment.
There has been a significant increase in the number of high bill complaints. This has
been a combination of the cool weather, increased energy usage compared to previous
years, and the additional power cost adjustment charge.
Staff continues to discuss possible future plans for energy generation at the Elk River
landfill.
______________________________________________________________________________
Page 1 of 1
131
