<br />MINUTES OF THE ELK RIVER PLANNING COMMISSION <br />PUBLIC WORKSHOP <br />HELD AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL <br />4IIt AUGUST 1, 1989 <br /> <br />Members Present: Chairman Kimball, Commissioners Johnsons, Morton, Eber1ey, <br />Schroeder and Fuchs <br /> <br />Members Absent: None <br /> <br />Staff Present: None <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Pursuant <br />Session <br />p.m. <br /> <br />to due call and notice thereof. the meeting of the Workshop <br />of the Elk River Planning Commission was called to order at 7:00 <br /> <br />2. After a discussion, we decided to form sub-committees for the purpose of <br />research and writing recommendations to the Planning Ordinance. It was <br />agreed that these recommendations would be presented to the Commission <br />as a whole on October 17, 1989 for reaction and approval before being <br />submitted to the City Council. The Sub-committee's assignments are as <br />follow: <br /> <br />Sign Ordinance - Bob Morton and Ar10n Fuchs <br /> <br />Mission Statement - Rita Johnson and Mary Eber1ey <br /> <br />4IIt <br /> <br />Landscape. architectural screening, exterior finish and inter model <br />screening - Peter Kimball and Jerry Schroeder <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />The third (3rd) Tuesday of each month was set for workshop sessions. <br /> <br />A brief discussion was held on the subject of professionalizing and <br />shortening the length of the Planning Commission's regular meeting. <br />Each member agreed to to do their part to insure that the meetings would <br />be as efficient as possible. <br /> <br />5. After discussion. it was decided that the Planning Commissioners should <br />visit sites that they have approved for the purpose of determining how <br />well the projects have been carried out and the result of their <br />stipulations. Also. it was decided to ask staff to provide a schedule of <br />Conditional Use Permit reviews and the applicant's status in regard to <br />these reviews for the purpose of checking on our standards for <br />consistency, practicality and workability. <br /> <br />6. It was the concensus of the Commission to ask the Zoning Administrator <br />and the Zoning Assistant for an informal written memo to be included <br />in each month's packet that could include any relevant thoughts and <br />ideas. ramblings, notes or anything else that crosses their minds that <br />might help educate us citizen planners. <br /> <br />7. There being no further business, COMMISSIONER MORTON MOVED TO ADJOURN THE <br />MEETING. COMMISSIONER JOHNSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED <br />6-0. <br /> <br />4IIt <br /> <br />The meeting of the Elk River Planning Planning Commission Workshop adjourned <br />at 9:00 p.m. <br />
