Ach, City Planner, and Gary Schmitz, Planning Assistant <br /> <br />1. Call Meetina To Order <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Planning <br />Commission was called to order at 7 p.m. by Chairman Tveite. <br /> <br />2. Consider Plannin9 Commission Aaenda <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER KREGER MOVED TO APPROVE THE 4/14/94 PLANNING <br />COMMISSION AGENDA. COMMISSIONER EBERLEY SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br />MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Consider Preliminary Plat for Country Crossinas by Country Ridae Partnership, <br />Public Hearina, Case No. P 94-02 <br /> <br />Staff report presented by Steve Ach. Mr. Ach gave an overview of the revisions <br />made to the preliminary plat since the Planning Commission's last meeting. <br />Changes to the plat included: dedicating seven (7) acres of park land on the <br />north end of the plat, reducing the number of single family lots from 97 lots to 73 <br />lots, and adjusting the roadway off of Orono Parkway to avoid as many trees as <br />possible. Mr. Ach discussed the City's requirement for installing trees within <br />subdivisions. The ordinance currently requires a tree at intervals of 60 feet. Staff <br />recommended that the subdivision be required to provide one front yard tree for <br />every lot within the subdivision. <br /> <br />Chairman Tveite opened the public hearing. There being no comments from the <br />public, Chairman Tveite closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Commissioner Kreger indicated that he was in attendance at the Park <br />Commission meeting and gave a brief overview of the Park Commission's <br />discussion regarding this item. Commissioner Kreger also discussed the concept <br />of front yard trees within every lot and expressed the desire to have some diversity <br />and creativity with the placement of these trees. It was suggested the developer <br />consider adding landscaping along the trail corridors to the southwest and <br />southeast to help buffer those four lots adjacent to these corridors. Commissioner <br />Eberley stated that these corridors would be used by pedestrians both on foot <br />and on bikes, and screening would be a good idea. Commissioner Minton asked <br />if the extension of Orono Parkway would avoid existing trees. Staff indicated that <br />
