UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO:FROM:
ERMU Commission Mike Tietz –Technical Services Superintendent
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
February 8, 2022 6.1i
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• In January, the locators processed 107 locate tickets. These consisted of 4 emergency
tickets, 70 normal tickets, 2 non-excavation tickets, 26 updated tickets, 1 cancellation, 1
boundary survey and 3 locate meets. This resulted in a 40.6% decrease intickets from
the previous month and an 21.9% decrease fromthe prior January. The locators
continue to GPS and validate data for our electric GIS maps during the winter months.

• Electrical technicians completed 192 service order tasks, updated the power bill,
attended to customer meter issues and off-peak concerns.

• On January 20, staff ran generators #1, #2, #3 & #4. Engine #3 produced considerable
smoke within the power plant so I have decided to suspend its operation until further
notice. It may still be used if an emergency requires it.

• Mapping department experienced a setback after an unsuccessful integration with the
third-party vendor software we purchased in 2021. Staff will continue to utilize our base
ESRI products to provide mapping solutions for the field staff as we look for better ways
to tie our databases together.

• The substation apparatus technician has been getting quotes on the replacement relay
panel for the West substation and investigating communication equipment for the
substation.

• We received a quote from a vendor to replace the damaged interior in Truck #17 for less
than our insurance deductible. I am confident that this local vendor can repair the truck
in a timely fashion.
______________________________________________________________________________
Page 1 of 1
108
