UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO:FROM: <br />ERMU Commission Chris Sumstad– Electric Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />February 8, 2022 6.1h <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br /> Installed 11 new residential services, which involves the connection of a secondary line <br />once the customer requests service. <br /> Line crews are working on tearing down abandoned overhead lines that conflictwith the <br />Highway 169 Redefine project. <br /> Line crews also removed the overhead line in front of the field services building. They <br />will be tearing down the span which reaches from Main Street to Highway 10. <br /> The County Road 35 overhead rebuild continues. We are replacing the existing line with <br />larger wire and shortening span lengths. <br /> The crews are performing equipment maintenance, along with hot line tool and ground <br />testing. <br /> Carr’s Tree Service started trimmingon January 3. They will be working along County <br />Road 35, County Road 1, Highway 169, and other locations throughout the season. <br /> A vehicle struck a three phase power pole along Highway 10 near Broadway Pizza. The <br />pole was able to remain in place, but some damage was sustained to the underground <br />primary wire. Crews were able to make repairs. <br />th <br />A vehicle strucka streetlightcontroller for a string of the Highway169 lights at the 5 <br />Street intersection. Crews were able to stand it back up and turn the lights back on. <br />Materials for the upcoming construction season arestarting to come in. We took <br />delivery of our 1/0 underground primary wire and are expecting delivery of our 4/0 <br />primaryand secondary wire in February. <br /> I attended the Emergency Preparedness conference held in St. Cloud and sponsored by <br />Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association(MMUA), January24-25. This yielded some <br />good conversation with other communities onhow they prepared forpast storms and <br />what strategies they are implementingfor future ones. <br /> I also attended the Technical and Operations conference held in St. Cloud and <br />sponsored by MMUA, January 18-20.
