Request for Action <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />To Item Number <br />Mayor and City Council 4.12 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent February 7, 2022 Lauren Wipper, Human Resources Manager <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Hire Wastewater Operator Matt Stevens, WWTS Chief Operator <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> <br />Action Requested <br />Approve, by motion, the hiring of Tyler Hall to the position of Wastewater Treatment Systems Operator effective <br />February 8, 2022. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br />When our wastewater maintenance operator resigned September, staff met with the City Council to request <br />changing this position to a systems operator position. With Council agreement, we went to market and received <br />six applications, all of which were qualified. We offered interviews to all six and following background, reference, <br />and pre-employment checks and tests, we recommend Tyler Hall for this position. <br /> <br />Mr. Hall holds a Class B Wastewater Operator’s Certificate and has worked as an operator for 12 years. He also <br />has a Class B Commercial Driver’s License. <br /> <br />Mr. Hall will start at step C of pay grade 4N. All pay and benefits will be consistent with city policy. <br /> <br />Financial Impact <br />2022 funds budgeted for the maintenance operator position fall about $700 short of covering this position.
